Beach Hacks 2019

If you’ve lived on Long Island for quite some time, then you’ll know off the top of your head what one of the most popular spots is during the summertime: the beach! Whether it’s Jones or Robert Moses, there are plenty of sandy places to reap the benefits of the gorgeous summer weather! Before you pack up the car and head on down to the shore, here are some “beach hacks” to keep in mind.

Secret Bank
Let’s face it: not everyone is honest. Sometimes, you’ll find yourself walking away from your belongings, go for a swim in the ocean, and return to your blanket to see that you’re missing something. If you’re looking to try and eliminate a problem, it’s best to purchase a secret bank.

No, this won’t look like a vault, but rather a tube of sunscreen or tanning oil. In fact, the product will look and feel just like the actual items, but each tube will be empty — until you remove the cap and place money/personal belongings inside. This will be one of the best ways to deter someone from temptation. Sure, you don’t have to bring your wallet — but if you happen to want ice cream and don’t have money on you, it might be tough to ask for an “I.O.U.” policy.

Sand-less Sandwich
Oh, you know that feeling well: sitting down on your beach blanket, ready to eat a sandwich — and then the minute you place it down to grab a soda, the wind blows, and sand particles get in between the meat and cheese. Yeah, it’s not something that any beach-goer looks forward to, but there is a clever hack to prevent it from happening: using a fitted sheet.

Whether you happen to have an old fitted sheet or purchase one from the dollar store, bring it to the beach and place it down on the sand. Once spread out, place some heavy objects in each corner and then pull the edges up around the buckets. This will be a perfect way to have a sand-free dining area!

Hosted by the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, this street fair is an incredible community-based spectacular — and even gives locals the chance to be a vendor or sponsor of the event, too. Whether you’re looking to go with friends or family, this is definitely a great street fair that you don’t want to miss!

How Long Should I Wait to RSVP to a Wedding?

When you think of weddings, what comes to mind first besides the actual reception? Well, you’ll either have to purchase a new outfit, buy a gift, or try to remember where you put that invitation — but what about actually RSVP-ing on the big day? Better yet, what if you’re not entirely sure if you’ll be attending the wedding? While there is no written rule about how quickly you should RSVP, here are some things to keep in mind before making your move.

Attending
If you decided to attend the wedding, then congratulations: you’re in for a wonderful time! However, if you’re not sure when you’re going to RSVP to the hosts, then it’s best to keep in mind a specific, unscripted time frame. Over at The Knot, they strongly recommend that you should RSVP no later than a few weeks before the big day — preferably two-to-three weeks. This will not only show your hosts proper wedding etiquette, but it will also give them enough notice. Now, if you’re not attending the wedding (whether you chose not to or had a conflicting arrangement), then there’s a different protocol.

Not Attending
As we mentioned earlier, whether you’re not able to attend the wedding due to personal reasons (which is perfectly normal, especially if you barely know the hosts or haven’t seen them for a while), or you have a prior arrangement that day/night, it’s best to let the hosts know as soon as possible. The reason being is that not only will it give them enough time to invite a replacement if needed, but it will also give them enough time to remove a plate at the table before they create their seating chart.

Prom Hacks 2019

Ah, it’s prom season again! Whether this is your very first time attending or you’re planning for a future prom, there’s nothing better than dancing the night at this elegant occasion! While gearing up for the big day can be rather stressful, some tips can make the process much easier — and we’re here to share a few of them with you!

Bring a Handbag
Ladies, if you’re planning on going to prom without a clutch or small evening bag, then you might want to rethink that. This is one of the best ways to keep your phone, ID/driver’s license, and money in a safe, convenient place. Granted, you might feel tempted not to bring one and go empty-handed — but if your gown doesn’t have pockets, then it would be rather tough to trot around prom holding your belongings (or have a greater chance of losing them).

Keep it Safe
If you’re planning on rocking a new hairdo or want to do your makeup differently, then it’s best to keep it safe on the big day. Sometimes, a look doesn’t go as planned — and if you only have a few minutes to redo your look before the limo arrives, then that could be a nightmare. If you do want to rock a new look at prom, then it’s best to practice a few days before or if you’re having your look created by a professional, see if you can have a test run a few days in advance!

Have Fun
Sometimes, it’s possible to get caught up in the moment and forget that you’re supposed to have fun. From photo ops to making sure that you don’t miss dancing to your favorite song, there are many factors in the equation that might override the joy of prom. Just sit back, relax, and let the night happen! It’s your big night, so shine bright and have fun!
