#ThirstyThursday - Fourth of July Cocktails

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
America’s birthday is within reach - time to break out your best patriotic flare and get ready to celebrate. In honor of this weekend’s barbecues and festivities - treat yourself to one of the below cocktails sure to make Uncle Sam proud.
Washington’s Mule
We’ve crossed the states for this patriotic cocktail. Created by John Samora in Arizona, we have the Washington Mule, a nod to the father of our country/largest whiskey producer of his time (seriously). Drop 5-7 fresh or frozen (pitted) red sweet cherries into a tumbler glass, muddle, fill with ice, add an ounce or two of white whiskey, top off with ginger beer and add a splash of blue CuraƧao, enjoy! Full recipe here »

Fourth of July Wine Sparklers
A cocktail with just two ingredients and some fun fruit garnish, we’ll take it! You’ll need a star shaped cookie cutter to punch out some watermelon stars, a cup of fresh blueberries, a bottle of chilled dry wine, and one liter of chilled lemon lime soda. Full recipe here »

Red, White, and Blue Jello Shots
Fairly simple, but patience needed. These Red, White, + Blue Jello Shots are sure to be a party favorite. You’ll need jello, vodka, Knox powdered gelatin, sugar, vanilla extract, milk, heavy cream, and water to get these started. Check out the recipe here »

Layered Mocktails
Since we don’t want to leave out the kiddies- here’s a sugar filled treat sans alcohol. Grab a glass and fill it two-thirds with ice, pour in some cranberry juice about a third of the way, then slowly pour 7-UP another third of the way, and finally - finish off with a slow pour of blue Powerade to top it off! Full recipe here »

The Airline Lost My Luggage - Now What?

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
The good news? Lost bags are actually getting rarer. In 2015, the nation’s largest airlines misplaced only 3.24 bags per 1,000 passengers (compared to 7 per 1,000 back in 2007). The bad news? Losing luggage still occurs.

While we hope this doesn't happen to you - knowing what to do should you find yourself in this situation is necessary:
Before you board:
  • Take a photo. You may know what your “black suitcase” looks like, but trying to describe it to a tee to a stranger may be a little difficult. The more details you can give the agent surrounding color, shape, size, and other details - the better (aka: photos help).
  • Include your name inside your bag. You probably have an ID tag attached to your bag, but in case it falls off or goes missing - it’s a good idea to have your contact information listed inside as well. A business card, note, or additional ID tag on top of your clothes will work fine.
  • Purchase a tracker. For those looking for some serious peace of mind, purchase a tracker to help track your bag while traveling. Trakdot, for example, is a palm sized device that fits in your checked luggage allowing you to track it from point A to point B.
After you land:
  • Report it immediately. Most “lost” bags are actually delayed and airlines can track them within a few hours. Regardless, you’ll still want a paper trail. Go straight to the airport baggage office to file a paper report and keep a copy for yourself. Also, get a phone number so you can follow up with someone just in case you feel left in the dark.
  • Ask for reimbursement. Generally, you’re entitled to getting back “reasonable interim expenses” while without luggage. Though what you consider reasonable and what the airline considers reasonable may not align. Delta, for example, will pay as much as $50 per day for five days - provided you save your receipts and you’re buying the necessities.
  • If your bag is gone forever, set a claim. So it’s been a few hours, days, weeks, and the airline has declared your luggage officially lost. Now’s the time you’ll need to set a claim. And though, per government rules, domestic travelers can receive up to $3,300 - many receive far less. According to the US Department of Transportation, “Airlines consider the depreciated value of your possessions, not their original price or the replacement costs.”
While losing luggage is certainly a stressful process, getting home doesn’t have to be. Skip the hassle of public transportation and arrange for Dynasty Limousine to handle your airport pick up needs. We’ll navigate the roads surrounding LaGuardia or JFK so you can relax and follow up with airlines as needed.

P: (631) 587-8500
You're probably already well aware that summer travel can be hectic. Luckily there are a few apps out there than can help take away all the stresses that come with travel planning. Seriously – all of them.

From your own personal on hand travel agent to navigation based on your interests - here are three apps to download now:

Sidekix – urban discovery on the go! It’s no surprise that navigation apps are built for vehicles – so what happens when you’re on foot? Sidekix will help get you to a destination while also helping you discover what’s around you. Choose a route based on interest – shopping spree, pub crawl, gallery hop – not just distance. This app also allows you to share the route with friends in real time or save it for future visits. There are currently 50 cities active on Sidekix with more being added each week.

Lola – computer meets travel agent. This fairly new app (which is currently only available via waiting list or special invite code) is literally your digital travel agent. Once allowed in – users update their preferences for accommodations, airlines, and budget, and a team of travel consultants do the rest. From the start of your trip to the end, and everything in between, Lola takes care of any and every travel need.

Eventurist by Farecompare – As noted on Farecompare’s website: “Whatever your inspiration for travel, Eventurist by Farecompare will show you how to find the best airfares to get to your next adventure. Royal Caribbean Vs. Carnival Cruise Line Vs. Norwegian Cruise Line

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
Rock climbing, zip lining, sprawling water parks, mini golf courses, and a plethora of other on-board entertainment - it’s no wonder cruise lines have exploded in the travel industry over the last few years.

If you haven’t jumped on the cruising band wagon yet perhaps now it’s time. But which cruise line will provide the best atmosphere, dining options, and experience for your needs and budget? We’ve compared three of the top cruise lines below:
Photo via Flickr
Royal Caribbean
  • Price: While Royal Caribbean is one of the priciest options, you are sure to get top quality entertainment and adventure at sea. Though considered an all exclusive cruise, they have been know to charge for many of their more extravagant services, like most of their specialty restaurants or fitness classes.
  • Experience: Royal Caribbean cruise really gives customers that energetic “wow” factor experience. Many of the larger ships offer slides you would normally expect to see in a water park, rock climbing walls towering over 300 feet above sea level, spa options and experiences that would rival any resort and Broadway style productions.
  • Dining: Foodies will love Royal Caribbean’s high quality and international dishes. Whether it’s buffet style or a formal sit down meal, you can find anything from top quality burgers to French and Japanese cuisine.
Carnival Cruise Line
  • Price: Looking to travel without breaking the bank? Carnival offers the lowest prices, while still bringing you to exotic getaways.
  • Experience: Because of it’s low prices, Carnival draws in mostly families and young adults. On the ship, you will often find karaoke and dance contests, IMAX movies and themed pool parties. Carnival may not provide the same extravagant features as Royal Caribbean, but there is certainly no shortage of fun on these ships.
  • Dining: While you may not find the most unique dishes on Carnival, the quality and service will astound and please everyone. Most of their buffet food caters to typical American food, like burgers, pizza and pasta, with some nights in the formal dinning room catering to a specific country or continent.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)
  • Price: NCL happily falls between Royal Caribbean and Carnival in terms of pricing, but has had a reputation of “nickel-and-diming” passengers for anything above the average offer. It’s important to note, anything extra is “optional” - one could have a wonderful cruise with great food and entertainment for the base fare, or if booked at the right time may score unlimited dining or beverage package!
  • Experience: Looking to get away from fast paced life, NCL offers the most relaxing atmosphere, perfect for spending the week relaxing poolside. While there are certainly activities such as comedy shows, nightclubs and live music for those looking for more excitement, NCL typically draws in an older crowd and does not offer as many options as most other cruise lines.
  • Dining: It’s your vacation, so might as well do what you want, when you want. NCL is one of the few cruise lines to offer, “freestyle dinning,” where there are no set seating times. For couples and small groups, this offers the perfect opportunity to come and go as you please. But fair warning for large groups, as freestyle dining can lead to some confusion and long wait times.
Vacation doesn’t have to start once you step foot on the ship, let Dynasty Limousine take you to the ship or airport with ease and style. If you are traveling out of New York, let us bring you to Manhattan or Brooklyn Cruise Terminals. If you are catching a cruise out state, forget about fighting for spots, paying for parking, and leaving your car unattended for a week, we're available for all of your drop off and pick up needs!
