Underrated Long Island Towns to Visit

Sure, New York City is great, but sometimes you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all. Especially during the warm weather — it’s a scorcher out there these days, am I right? Escape the crowd and plan a weekend getaway to one of these underrated but awesome Long Island towns.

Shelter Island

This small island is situated between the north and south forks of Long Island. Shelter Island is home to unforgettable scenic beauty, gorgeous beaches, rolling farmland, and great places to stay.

While you’re there: Make time to visit the historic Sylvester Manor Educational Farm. Here you’ll be able to learn about food, culture, and history.

Mattituck

Most Long Islanders breeze right by the Town of Mattituck on the way to Greenport, but next time you’re planning a trip to the East End, we highly recommend this pretty little town in the heart of Wine Country.

While you’re there: Plan a trip to Love Lane. This charming street is home to some of our favorite shops. While you wait for a table at the delicious Love Lane Kitchen, indulge in some wine from the Roanoke Vineyards Wine Bar and cheese from The Village Cheese Shop.

Riverhead

When you think of Riverhead, you probably think of the Tanger Outlets, but there’s so much more to do here than just shopping. There’s something to do for children and adults of all ages!

While you’re there: Book an East End Bike Tour and visit the Martha Clara Vineyards. Not into biking? Book a ticket on the Long Island Aquarium’s Tour Boat Adventure instead.

Once you’ve planned your trip, let Dynasty Limousine get you there! Our fleet can accommodate groups of all sizes. We even offer competitive Wine Tour Packages. For more information and to make a reservation, contact us at 631-587-8500.

Bermuda

Bermuda is one of the wealthiest isles on earth. This tropical land is made up of pink sand beaches, pastel cottages, coral walls, and friendly locals. Just a two-hour flight from JFK, airfare is extremely affordable. Pro Tip: Be sure to order the island’s signature cocktail — the Rum Swizzle!

Bahama

The Bahamas is home to over 2,000 gorgeous islands and cays, as well as some of the world’s greatest beaches. Not only can you relax in the tropics, but you’ll have the opportunity to explore historic sites like the Queen’s Staircase and the ruins at Clifton Heritage Park. A flight from JFK to Nassau, Bahamas is about three hours.

Puerto Rico

Looking for an adrenaline rush? Puerto Rico offers exhilarating excursions like: rappelling from the Camuy Caves or hiking through the El Yunque rain forest. Get there in just 3.5 hours from New York. This American territory is safe and simple to travel to. US Travel Spotlight: Greenville, SC

Dynasty Limousine | Airport Transportation

When you think South Carolina, Charleston or Myrtle Beach may come to mind. But when we think South Carolina, we think of a tucked away Blue Ridge Mountain town — where the food is great, the landscape is gorgeous and the people are the epitome of polite.

Such a town exists, you ask? You betcha. Greenville, South Carolina — one of the fastest growing cities and for good reason. Only a short two hour flight away, here are 4 reasons why you should take a trip to see what all the fuss is about.

1. Booming restaurant scene.
Bring your appetite, downtown Greenville is known for its many restaurants of nearly every type of food — from traditional to eclectic. Don’t know what to start? Check out Linda’s “Tasty International Tapas” Crawl and sample some small plates from Roost Restaurant, Soby’s New South Cuisine, Halls Chophouse, The Lazy Goat and American Grocery Restaurant.

2. Inspiring art galleries.
Art museums, street art, local galleries — Greenville is a thriving arts scene. Go on a Mouse Hunt to spot all the Mice on Main then head to the Greenville County Museum of Art for one of the world’s largest collections of works by Andrew Wyeth and Jasper John.

3. Picture perfect scenery.
The name is Greenville after all, so naturally you can expect to find beautiful trees and a picturesque landscape even in downtown. The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a biker’s dream — a 21-mile, paved path running alongside the Reedy River south of the city, through downtown and up to Travelers Rest (another perfectly named town). Rent a bike from Reedy Rides or Bike the Rabbit and take a cruise one sunny afternoon.

4. Annual Festivals and Events.
With more than 300 “event days” each year, chances are you won’t have a problem finding something to do. Check out the full list of happenings here, and some standout ones in the coming months below:

  • Greenville Heritage FCU Main Street Fridays: Presented by Pepsi, this weekly music series takes place every Friday from March 17 to September 29 on Main Street at NOMA Square, beginning at 5:30p and concluding at 9:30p.
  • Artisphere: An annual three-day event in May that gives arts patrons the opportunity to meet exhibiting artists and purchase original works of art.
  • Euphoria: A highly anticipated weekend-long event, Euphoria comes to Downtown Greenville this September for exclusive tasting events, cooking demonstrations and wine seminars, as well as multi-course dinners and live musical performances. To purchase tickets and view the 2017 schedule, head to the even website on April 23.

US Travel Spotlight: Lexington, KY

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500

With plenty of rolling hills, horses and bourbon, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Bluegrass State! But where to? We recommend this often unknown, jewel of a city
— offering small town charm with a big city feel.

If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of New York, here are 6 reasons you should visit Lexington, KY!

1. Keeneland Race Track
Keeneland’s Spring Meet opens in just under 40 days! Arrive early to join in on the pre-game tailgating or schedule a tour of the grounds for another day of the week.

2. Horse Farm Tours
A true Bluegrass tradition is visiting one of the 450 horse farms in the region (roughly 150 located in Lexington/Fayette alone!). But please note, these are working farms — so dropping by unannounced is frowned upon. Instead, reserve a seat on a regular guided group tour, hire a private guide or hoof-it on your own by making appointments at specific farms! Coolmore America’s Ashford Stud is home to 2015 Derby and Triple Crown winner, American Pharaoh!

3. The Bourbon Trail
With 95 percent of the world’s bourbon made in Kentucky, you won’t go wrong with a tour of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Take your pick of five nearby historic distilleries: The Woodford Reserve Distillery, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Town Branch Distillery and Wild Turkey.

4. The Kentucky Horse Park
With horses on this ground for more than 200 years, the Kentucky Horse Park is the world’s only park dedicated to man’s relationship with the horse. As this year marks the 100th anniversary of arguably the most famous racehorse, Man o’ War, you’ll find events in his celebration through November.

5. Local Nightlife
Bluegrass Nation knows how to get down. Every Thursday, starting April 6 and running through October 12, join thousands of Kentuckians downtown for Thursday Night Live — live music, local food and beverage vendors, rain or shine and free to attend. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants where you can try a famous “Kentucky Hot Brown” or other traditional Southern dishes.

6. Historic Sights
You can wander through Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, the largest restored Shaker village in the world, or visit some of the area’s historic homes! There’s the Mary Todd Lincoln House (childhood home of the former first lady), Ashland Estate (Henry Clay’s personal estate), Hunt-Morgan House (historically known as Hopemont), and Waveland (built for Joseph Bryan, great-nephew of Daniel Boone) to name a few.

5 Tips for Unwinding on Your next Business Trip

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500

Ah, business travel. Just the words can conjure thoughts of chaotic back-to-back meetings, restless nights in a strange bed and pure exhaustion. But it doesn’t have to be that way! While tight schedules may be unavoidable, if done correctly, you may experience less stress and dare we say it – actually enjoy your business trip!

Keep the below tips in mind to help you relax and unwind on your next business venture.
Dynasty Limousine | NYC Airport Transportation
  1. Unplug – Yes we know, it is business travel after all, but limiting the amount of screen time you have is a surefire way to unwind. If you can spend some time completely off the grid – fantastic! If not, try to minimize your electronics use and go enjoy local sights or spend time reading in the hotel lobby (or visiting you hotel spa, we won't tell!).
  2. Plan your time wisely – With so much to do in such little time, time management is essential. Prior to leaving, make a list of the high priority things that need to get done, meetings and presentations of the like. Schedule them into your calendar while also blocking off several slots for “you” time – like unplugging, taking a coffee break, visiting the local tourist attractions, etc. Avoid over planning and leave some wiggle room!
  3. Get adequate rest – Getting enough sleep goes hand-in-hand with planning time wisely. Don’t sacrifice shut eye just to attend one more meeting or event. For you to be at your best during business hours, this tip can’t be ignored. If you’re one of the many that have trouble sleeping in a hotel (or any new environment that is unfamiliar to you) this is especially important. Step away from work and play early, and find something to help calm you down from the day’s work – consider taking a bath, doing some mindfulness exercises or watching TV.
  4. Take care of your health – Whether you’re traveling for business or for pleasure, nutrition and health can be overlooked. But in order to unwind, eating well and taking care of your body is key. Proper nutrition can increase your energy levels and focus and scheduling in a workout can help get your blood pumping, boosting endorphins and reducing stress levels!
  5. Enjoy ground transportation – Your time on the road is invaluable, spending it behind the wheel on your way to or from a NYC airport isn’t the best option. By reserving your airport transportation with Dynasty Limousine, you’ll be able to use your time in transit to catch up on flagged emails, prepare any notes/presentations or simply, shut your eyes and relax – so you’re able to arrive to your destination feeling stress-free.
Business travel may be a frequent occurrence in your line of work and we wouldn’t want you to dread it. Book your airport transportation with Dynasty Limousine! We handle pick ups and drop offs at all major New York Airports including LaGuardia, JFK, MacArthur as well as most private airports like Farmingdale Executive Airport. 3 New Year’s Resolutions to Consider

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500

“New Year, New You.” A common phrase thrown around each year at this time. You may have your health and fitness goals figured out – but we have some additional suggestions that can also benefit your life.

As we prepare to ring in 2017 – take these 3 New Year’s Resolutions into consideration!

1. Figure Out Your Finances

Make 2017 the year you really work to pay off debt (loans, credit cards, etc.) and start budgeting. Whether it’s to save for an upcoming wedding, travel venture, or to simply to start a savings account – now is the perfect time to see how you can make your resolution a reality. Try enrolling in automatic bill pay to ensure you never miss a payment. Look into splitting your direct deposit and move some funds over to a savings account each pay period – this way you aren’t tempted to spend!

2. Set Aside Time for Yourself

It’s easy to overextend yourself to meet others’ needs – but it’s so important to make time for the person that matters, you. Caring for yourself is one of the most important resolutions you can make. One way of putting this into action – resolve to say no to something once a week and instead do something for yourself. Whether that means taking some time to do what you like – a yoga class or watching your favorite TV show without distractions – or something you need to do – schedule that dental appointment you’ve been avoiding – plan to focus on your number 1 person this new year.

3. Use Your Vacation Days!

More often than not, at the end of the year people have left over vacation days. Resolve to put them to use! Has there been a place you’ve always wanted to go but haven’t gotten around to booking it? Let 2017 be the year you take that adventure.

No matter where your 2017 travel plans take you, Dynasty Limousine will be there to handle your transportation needs. We are available for pickups and drop offs at all of the major New York Airports and for most private airports including Farmingdale Executive Airport. From all of us to you, we wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

3 Ways You Can Make the Most out of Your Travel Resolutions

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service

P: (631) 587-8500
New Year, new travel resolutions. Since you already know how to KEEP your travel resolutions, it’s time to make sure you get the most out of them.

Make the most out of flash deals:
Follow your preferred airlines on social media, sign up for alerts on specific routes and be prepared to get flexible. For example: by following JetBlue on social media, we learned of their 12 days of deals promotion - where daily they’d share a new flash deal at 1pm across their social channels. Otherwise, look into specific apps or platforms that can alert you of the best deals - Airfarewatchdog, Hopper, Skyscanner, etc.

Make the most out of loyalty programs:
Whether it’s with a preferred airline, hotel or credit card - earning points on travel is the best way to reap travel perks. Loyal to one airline? Make sure to sign up for a frequent flyer number and look into their credit card offerings so you can capitalize on freebies like checked bags, priority boarding or lounge access. If you fly with multiple airlines, there are several credit cards that help you earn points and other travel perks.

Make the most out of going abroad:
Pro tip: When it comes to money exchange, reconsider using the Travelex kiosk you see in all major international airports. They typically charge a greater premium on the exchange rate compared to your local bank. Consider withdrawing cash on arrival or looking at options outside of the airport (sometimes hotels can do this for you!). Also, don’t sleep on VAT refunds in the European Union! As a non-EU citizen, you can get a refund for any Value-Added Tax paid on goods - just be sure the retailer fills out a tax free form.

Packing for a Winter Vacation

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service

P: (631) 587-8500

Florida and the Caribbean may still be top destination spots during the Northeast winter, but not everyone is flying South from the cold this year. Vacationing to Europe over the winter is becoming more and more popular as people embrace the cold weather (and cheaper flights!)

While you may want to bring your parka and every pair of comfy boots you own, most airlines charge for every bag after the first, so your best bet is to pack light - but smart. If you’re planning on braving the cold overseas this season, here are a few winter destination packing tips

Lay on the layers: Between outdoor landmarks during the day and gift shops and restaurants at night, you’re probably going to be in and out quite a bit. Massive down jackets will take up most of the space in your suitcase, leaving you without room for much else - not to mention you’ll probably spend half the time carrying it around while you’re indoors. You’re best bet is to pack one average size jacket and pile on the layers under it.

Basic black: If you’re ever traveling light, the best two pieces you can bring are a black jacket and pair of black pants. Pair pants with a formal shirt and you’re ready to go to a nice restaurant, or throw on a sweatshirt and go sight seeing for the day.

Two pairs only: We’ve all been there - while you’re packing you plan all the shoes you’ll "wear." Some heels (for the ladies), comfy shoes, hiking boots and sneakers of course for when you go to the gym each morning. Then, on day 5, you realize you’ve worn the same shoes every day since you stepped off the plane. We know it’s hard, but if you’re going away for a week, pack realistically. Try to bring no more than two versatile shoes that you can dress up or down depending on where you go.

Accessories: Temperatures in Europe can hit the single digits, so while they may look good, thin scarves and gloves won’t protect you from the rain, snow and wind. Instead, pack a few heavy duty scarves, earmuffs, hats and gloves that will keep you warm and can change up an outfit you’ve already worn.

Know when not to skimp: The few places you should not skimp on when packing are socks, underwear and thermals. One good rainy or snowy day can ruin a few pairs of socks or soak a shirt, so make sure you have two pairs of socks for every day you’re away and an extra warm shirt, just in case.

No matter where your 2016 (or 2017) travel plans take you, Dynasty Limousine will be there to handle your transportation needs. We offer competitive rates for Airport and Ground Transportation in the New York area. Call and request a quote today (631) 587-8500!

Last Minute Thanksgiving Airport Travel Tips

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
Thanksgiving Eve, not only a popular party night but also one of the busiest travel days of the year. This year, Airlines for America estimates 2.55 million US airline passengers will be taking flight in preparation for tomorrow’s holiday.

If you’re one of today’s last minute airline travelers, here’s what you need to know before you go.

Allow for extra time.
“Due to the increased number of travelers during the upcoming holiday, allow extra time for check-in and security at LGA Airport.” As per LaGuardia’s website, be sure to arrive at least 2 hours prior to your departure time when flying within the US. The same holds true for all New York Airports - an influx of people can result in longer security lines. You don’t want to miss your flight before your favorite feast of the year do you?

Stay connected.
Pro tip: Follow your airline and airport on social media for real time updates! Twitter and other airline specific apps play a huge role in helping customers stay in the know about delays or flight changes. Before you even leave for the airport, take a look at any and all social channels and sign up for Port Authority Airline Alerts to your phone or email, here.

Find out when TSA Pre✓® lanes are available.

Are you registered with TSA Pre✓®? Find out when lanes are available by clicking here. If a lane is not available during your selected time, show your TSA Pre✓® boarding pass to receive expedited screening in a standard lane.

Know what’s available to you.
From dining options to phone charging stations, take a look at what each airport has available for travelers. For those departing from LaGuardia click here and John F. Kennedy click here. If departing from another airport - check out that location’s airport guide!
Don't forget to book your airport transportation with Dynasty Limousine. We handle pick ups and drop offs at all major New York Airports including LaGuardia, JFK, MacArthur as well as most private airports like Farmingdale Executive Airport. Call and request a quote today: 631-587-8500!
