CMJ Music Marathon 2014

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500

All the SoundClouds, Spotifys, and Pandoras can’t beat the impact of live music. So save the date, because next week marks the 34th Anniversary of the CMJ Music Marathon, one of the world’s most important platforms for the discovery of new music. The event will run from Tuesday, October 21st until Saturday, October 25th featuring over 1,300 artists at 80+ venues right here in NYC.

Not sure where to start? Try checking out some of Long Island’s very own up and coming artists:

BRAEVES
October 22nd @ 7:45pm The Living Room - Williamsburg
With a balanced blend of soulful indie rock and melodic pop, Long Island’s BRAEVES call to mind bands such as The Shins, Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes – each song it’s own unwinding story told through intricately layered instrumentals, illuminating harmonies and verses that read as prose. The band joined forces with Producer Mike Watts (As Tall as Lions/The Dear Hunter) to record their debut EP, Drifting by Design, which was released on Sept. 9th, 2014. With support from outlets including Pure Volume, All Things Go, CMJ, and more, already behind them, this is set to be a big year for BRAEVES.

EVVY
October 23rd @ 9:10pm The Westway - New York, NY
EVVY is the newest indie pop artist from New York, her honeyed vocals surrounded by a glimmering production will pull you into her technicolor world of young love and heartbreak.

Saint Pepsi
October 22nd @ 12:00am Mercury Lounge - New York, NY
October 23rd @ 12:45am Mercury Lounge - New York, NY
Saint Pepsi started in December 2012 as an Ableton exercise, but is now 21-year-old Ryan DeRobertis’ main outlet for songwriting and production. The Long Island-based musician’s first release with Carpark is the “Fiona Coyne” 7-inch, that was released in August, which was followed by a full-length album in the fall. Saint Pepsi got its start with four mixtapes of new wave and synth-pop samples. As DeRobertis developed his sampling technique, he branched out into disco and funk music. The netlabel Keats Collective released the Hit Vibes album in May 2013. Around the same time, Saint Pepsi received even more attention for his “Call Me Maybe” remix, a captivating re-working of the Carly Rae Jepsen hit.
