What Can I Do With My Bridesmaid Dress After the Wedding?

Bridesmaids dresses — where would we be without them? Whether it’s for a close friend or family member’s wedding, these dresses are typically something you wear once and then let sit in the back of your closet for the years to come.

While that might be fine for some post-bridesmaids to let their dresses live this lifestyle, there are some that are looking to give their bridal frock a second chance — but how could that happen? Here are some things to consider:

Sell it at a Thrift Store
One of the best ways to make a little extra change is to sell your dress. No matter how old it may be, there’s always a market for bridesmaids dresses. Now, you might be asking yourself: “Who would want to buy my bridesmaid dress?” Well, you’d be pleasantly surprised that some might use the dress for their high school prom, formal affair, or a local theatre company may use the frock for a show.

Have it Altered by a Seamstress
Are you one of the few bridesmaids who was a fan of their dress, but the gown might not be practical for any other event? If so, take it to a seamstress to have it altered! Whether that entails having it hemmed, the fabric dyed a different color, or something added to it, no matter what it may entail, a seamstress will be able to transform that gown into something you’ll use all-year-round!
