5 Reasons to Go Wine Tasting on Long Island This Season

Dynasty Limousine | Wine Tour Limo Long Island

Whether you have a special occasion coming up or are just looking to spend time with good friends, there’s always a good reason to spend an afternoon among the vines.

Need an excuse to go wine tasting with Dynasty Limousine? How about five:

1. It’s the perfect season!
Let’s be real, all seasons bring their fair share of perks for wine lovers: Fall’s harvest, winter’s Winterfest, summer’s beautiful weather, and spring’s lack of crowds!

2. Bachelorette parties.
Is there a better way to celebrate your fling before the ring? Grab your gal pals, Dynasty Limousine and head out to Long Island Wine Country. Our wine tour division, First Class Wine Tours, can handle everything from vineyard arrangements to gourmet lunches for you and your party.

3. Birthday celebrations.
Whether you are celebrating your 21st or your 40th, gather your nearest and dearest and celebrate in style. Discover one of Long Island’s hidden gems like Whisper Vineyards or Bridge Lane Wine Tasting Room and then check out the music scene at Baiting Hollow or Vineyard 48.

4. Family outings.
If you only spend time with your extended family on the holidays, we think it’s time to start a new tradition: a trip to the East End each season! Get out of the house with your loved ones and enjoy some fresh air and vino.

5. Sunday fundays.
And if the above reasons weren’t enough, how about a good ol' Sunday funday. With vehicles that can hold 7 or 27 passengers, invite your friends, family or colleagues out east for a lazy afternoon with wine, music and door-to-door transportation courtesy of Dynasty Limo!

Wine Tasting Theme Parties

Call over all of your friends and pop open the bottles! Whether you’re an experienced sommelier, or a first time sipper, a wine tasting party is both a social and educational way to experience new types of vino.

Planning your next fĂȘte? Here are some tasting themes you must try!
Blind Wine Tasting. Serve up some excitement by pouring your guests different wines with the labels covered, and let the guessing begin! Much of our judgement of wines is influenced by the region, knowledge of the producer and even the price. A blind wine tasting party allows you to asses the quality of the wines without being biased.

Wine Scoring Party. Wine scoring parties allow the tasters to share their opinions and spark a conversation about wines in a comfortable environment. Score cards are handed out, where guests rank the wines in different categories like appearance, aroma, body, taste and finish.

Wine Tasting By Region. Transport yourself to the French countryside (or your exotic destination of choice)! Really explore your wine region of choice by pairing the wines with local foods and decor from that area. Comparing different wines from the same region is an interesting way to see how their styles differ.

Vertical Wine Tasting. A vertical wine tasting party pairs several of the same wines, from the same producer or vineyard, across several different vintages. This type of tasting is helpful in getting a feel for a particular winery’s composition, and shows you how weather patterns may affect the taste of the wines over the years.

Horizontal Wine Tasting. A horizontal wine tasting provides insight into the characteristics that are unique to a specific vintage. These wines can be from the same wine region or from different regions around the world. Trying out all different wines from the same year, is a great way to determine what styles of wine you typically prefer.

Want to sip with your friends without the hassle? Forego hosting a party and join us for a trip to the vineyards. Call us today and we’ll set up a fully customizable wine tour for your next outing. We provide our customers with luxurious limousines and/or limo buses which can accommodate a party of 2 to 30 guests to the East End of Long Island for a day of relaxation and fun. A How To on Wine Tasting

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service

So you’ve booked your fall wine tour with us, now if only you could impress your friends with your wine tasting knowledge. Don't worry - we've got your back.

Take a look at some of the below tips to help you become that wine connoisseur you've always wanted to be:
Sight
Look at your glass of wine from both the side and with a tilted view. Viewing the wine from the side will show you how clear it is - wine that looks clear and shows some sparkle is always a good sign. The tilted view helps in determining the age and weight of the wine. If the color looks tawny (for white) or has a rusty brick tone (for red) it is either an older wine or a wine that may be past its prime. Finally, give the glass a good swirl. Take note of the “legs” or drops that run down the sides of the glass. If the wine has good legs form - this generally means they have more alcohol and glycerin content making them riper than those that do not.

Sniff
Taking a series of quick sniffs gives you a nice sampling of the aromas of the wine - which can help you identify its key characteristics. First, look for any off-aromas that can signify the wine is spoiled - a musty scent, the smell of burnt matches, or vinegar are some clear signs. Then try and define some other aromas - like floral or fruity scents. You may also sense some wine barrel aromas - think smoke, vanilla, chocolate, espresso.

Taste
Now that you observed your wine’s sight and smell, take a small sip as if you were sucking it through a straw. This helps to aerate the wine and circulate it throughout your mouth. At this point, your taste buds not only identify the aromas but also determine the wine’s balance, harmony, and complexity.
