How To: Choose a Wedding Date

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service

P: (631) 587-8500

Planning a wedding is stressful enough as it is - between the guest list, the venue and of course, the dress, there are so many factors that need to be ironed out to make the day perfect. But those certainly aren't the only factors; can you guess the major one we have yet to mention? If you said "the date," you're absolutely right. So where do you begin?
Take the weather into account.
June, September, October - all popular wedding months due to their beautiful early summer or fall weather. Choose a season you and your fiancé enjoy and if possible add some cushion to your wedding budget to account for last minute seasonal necessities (a heat wave in May could use some fans).

Consider all factors of an off-season date.
Remember our comment in our recent blog post? Perhaps you only envision specific flowers in your decor - that means getting married in the winter and requesting summer time flowers is not only impractical but expensive to import. Keep these factors in mind!

Focus on what you want your wedding day to be, and how best to portray that date.
Now you may have your month narrowed down, but what about the actual date. Are there any that are particularly meaningful to you as couples or as individuals? Do you want to honor a family member who is longer with you by getting married on their birthday or anniversary? In the same way, are there any dates you want to avoid?

Don’t rush!
Make sure to give yourself time to plan for things that are truly important for you - whether that’s getting your custom made gown or getting hand-crafted, custom logoed favors. Remember, to plan and execute a wedding in a short amount of time, some things may need to be sacrificed.

#TravelThursday - Tricks for Improving Your Flight Experience

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
Whether you’re venturing off for business or pleasure, flying can be a draining event. To make the most out of your next trip, we have some tricks for improving your overall flight experience - you’re welcome.
Take advantage of smartphone apps - Apps like Hopper helps do your flight shopping for you! Hopper works to find the absolute best deals and flights and offers tips and predictions on which way the price is going to move. If they predict prices will drop, they’ll notify you when the flight reaches its lowest point. Travelers have reported saving up to 40% on their flights and cheaper flights = better overall experience.

You don’t need to toss that water bottle - No one should travel un-hydrated! So long as your bottle is empty before going through security, you can still bring it with you. This way you can refill it at a water fountain or ask your flight attendant to top it off in flight.

Invest in an eyemask - Eyemasks work wonders and many people forget to bring them (or buy them). The biggest obstruction to sleeping well, other than sitting in an upright position the whole time, are noise and light. Eyemasks help improve the quality of your sleep by checking ‘light’ off the can’t sleep checklist.

Try to get a full row with a friend - Try to purchase both the window and aisle seat in a row with a friend. With some luck, and if the flight’s not too full, no one will choose the middle seat. Now you’ll have all the extra space for yourselves! Should this not be the case, you could always ask the person in the middle to switch with you - they probably won’t mind.
No matter where your travel plans take you and what new apps can make it easier, Dynasty Limousine will be there to handle your transportation needs. We are available for pickups and drop offs at all of the major New York Airports including, JFK, La Guardia, Mac Arthur Airport and for most private airports including Farmingdale Executive Airport. Dynasty Limousines has competitive rates for Airport and Ground Transportation in the New York area. Call and request a quote today (631) 587-8500!

#WeddingWednesday - Top Reasons to Wed in the Spring

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
Spring is the season of rebirth, revival, and new beginnings. What better way to celebrate a season full of new possibilities than by choosing now as your time to say “I Do!”

Not convinced? See below for some of our top reasons to wed in the spring:
  • Weather - Not to hot, not to cold, this season is just right. While we know weather is generally unpredictable, spring time is a moderate season for the most part.
  • Nature is your best decor - All seasons have their charm - think the reds and golds of autumn, the winter snow, the summers beachy themes. Yet if you dream of a wedding in a natural setting, spring’s blooming flowers and new found greenery are at your disposal come spring time.
  • In season flowers - Getting married in the winter, wanting flowers that grow in the summer not only is impractical but more expensive to import. The spring offers an explosion of colorful blooms that can be included in the bouquet and center pieces.
  • Not many conflicts - Spring doesn’t have as many conflicting holidays and planned vacations as other seasons see, making it more likely for you to have the guests you want in attendance there. Plus, your guests often haven’t used all their vacation days come spring either!
Plus -  you'll reap the benefits of your New Year's fitness resolution, if you stuck to it that is.
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life.  It should be filled with happiness, family, and friends!  Dynasty Limousine has been the ideal choice for brides and groom in and around the Long Island area because we combine an impressive fleet of immaculately kept luxury vehicles with professional and experienced drivers. Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service

P: (631) 587-8500

Happy first day of “Spring” - annddd cue snow storm. Let’s hope this is the last time we see “winter weather advisory in effect” on the LIE this season. On the brighter side, when things start to warm up we have some fresh NYC date ideas to celebrate the spring season:

Get cultured at the Brooklyn Museum - Starting in April, one of the most important figures of the early 80s New York art scene, Jean-Michel Basquiat, will have his paintings, sketches, and notebooks belongings on display at the Brooklyn Museum.

Kayak around the city - Whether you are a beginner paddler or a pro, Manhattan Kayak offers tours for every skill level. Choose to take a relaxing tour that involves plenty of snacks or sign up to paddle all the way around the city, out to the Statue of Liberty, or over to Jersey for views of Manahattan.

Take a wine class - Head over to Corkbuzz in Union Square to take a class from Master Sommelier Laura Maniec - she’s smart, nice, and will drop some real fermented grape knowledge on whatever you’re most into.

Grab drinks on a roof deck - The Skylark offers a gorgeous rooftop view, wraparound window-side seating, delicious cocktails, and mac & cheese cupcakes. Yes, you read that right.

Ring in blue crab season - Have you spent time in Red Hook lately? Probably not. BUT there are some great dates to be had in this Brooklyn neighborhood, like a night out at Brooklyn Crab. Blue crab is coming into season in the spring and where else to satisfy your taste buds than Brooklyn Crab, equipped with a backyard complete with crab-boil-worthy outdoor activities (cornhole, ping pong, shuffleboard, mini golf…)

If you're looking to go the extra mile, why not go out in style? Dynasty Limousine provides the most impressive and well equipped limousines on the market, and we will provide you with a luxurious experience that is sure to make your night as stress free and relaxing as possible. Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service

P: (631) 587-8500
Film buffs, looking for movie events outside of New York’s multiplexes? Luckily for you New York City has a thriving alternative film scene in galleries and venues throughout Manhattan.
See what’s in store this weekend:

Gremlins 2: The New Batch (Dir. Joe Dante, 1990)
Nitehawk Cinema; Midnight Screenings Fri 12:10am, Sat 12:10am
Tickets: $11 (age 13 and up with guardian)
They warned us what would happen if we didn’t follow the rules… Funny and referential, director Joe Dante shows us what happens when Gremlins go corporate and nearly take over Manhattan.

The Master Touch (Dir. Michele Lupo, 1972)
Spectacle Theater; Fri midnight
Tickets: $5
Set to a deliciously thick Ennio Morricone score, this West German production stars Kirk Douglas as a genius safe cracker just released from prison. With his only intent to settle in with his wife, he instead is immediately offered a job, just ‘one last heist’ that could settle him for life or land him back behind bars again.

Blue Velvet (Dir. David Lynch, 1987)
Museum of the Moving Image; Sat 4pm, Sun 7pm
Tickets: $12 ($9 for senior citizens and students / free for members at the Film Lover level and above)
A sensual mystery thriller about strange happenings in a small North Carolina town, Blue Velvet moves seamlessly from murder mystery to film noir to black comedy to coming of age story. After discovering a severed ear in an abandoned field, a young man finds himself on an investigation related to a mysterious nightclub singer and a group of psychopathic criminals who have kidnapped her child. As Peter Travers of People Magazine has reviewed: “Whether you are attracted or repelled by Lynch's bizarre vision, one thing is for sure: You've never seen anything like it in your life.”

Vertigo (Dir. Alfred Hitchcock, 1958)
Museum of the Moving Image; Sat 1:30pm, Sun 4pm
Tickets: $12 ($9 for senior citizens and students / free for members at the Film Lover level and above)
Featuring Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak, this Hitchcock classic engulfs you in a whirlpool of love, obsession, manipulation and fear. This screening is part of a series programmed by Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, who is highlighting films that inspired the show.

Once you figure out which film you’d like to see, why not make a day out of it? Plan some time for lunch, dinner, or drinks surrounding the film time and give Dynasty Limo a call for your transportation needs.  Contact us today for more information and to view our availability.

#TravelThursday - Acing Your Business Trip

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
Despite the rise of video conferencing, meeting in person is not an extinct activity. Whether you are a seasoned business traveler or are preparing for your first venture, stuffing your suit and other important belongings all in one bag just never gets easier.

Travel Thursday, Dynasty Limo

Good news - Business travel does not need to be intimidating! By packing carefully and planning ahead you’ll be well on your way to acing your business trip:

  • Ditch the excess baggage: Only pack what you need and avoid checking luggage when possible. Clothing wise, choose a color palette and stick with it. Make sure all pants, skirts, and shoes can work with multiple outfits, if not leave it home. If checking a bag is necessary, be sure to keep all the essentials in your carry on (important documents, laptop, device chargers, business appropriate clothing, medications, etc.). This way even if your bag doesn’t make it, the important items will.
  • Collect your points: If your company’s policy allows you to keep the miles you earn on business for personal use - enroll yourself in a frequent flier program. First, do some research. Some airlines and hotels have a lot of partnerships and you could be earning miles even when your head hits the pillow.
  • Bring hard copies of documents: Utilizing apps like TripIt to help organize your itineraries and confirmations is great, but it’s also a good idea to print a hard copy of any important information (phone numbers, emails, confirmation numbers). If the power goes out or your battery is dead it’ll come in handy.
  • Organize your receipts: Plan ahead for completing your expense reports. Bring an envelope to help keep track of all your receipts. Label the envelope with the date of the trip, client name, travel city, etc. and write notes on the envelope to remind yourself later. Now when you come home, you have everything in order - vs. pulling out a handful of crumbled receipts and straining to remember which each was from.

Business travel may be a frequent occurrence in your line of work and we wouldn’t want you to dread it. We know your time on the road to the airport is invaluable, so spending it behind the wheel may not be the best option.  By reserving a car service with Dynasty Limo, you’ll be able to use your time in transit to catch up on flagged emails or prepare any notes/presentations so you’re able to arrive to your gate feeling stress-free. Call us today (631) 587-8500!

#TestimonialTuesday - Boozy Brunches NYC

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
“A little delayed but wanted to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone at Dynasty Limo for giving me an amazing 26th birthday experience. We had an awesome luxury van that was basically a mini party bus! It was perfect for my friends and I to head into the city to go to brunch.
Our driver Victor was also very accommodating, one of my guests was getting a little motion sick and he pulled over to give him some time and offered for him to ride in the front with him. All in all we were incredibly impressed with the service we received from booking to dropping us back off to my house on Long Island. Will definitely recommend Dynasty to anyone and will (hopefully) be booking the same van for a wine tour this summer/fall!” - via Danielle

Social Media DOs and DONTs for the Connected Bride

Long Island's Premiere Limousine Service
P: (631) 587-8500
We’re living in an age of Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram which opens up a few new doors in the wedding planning process. Keep in mind that the internet is a public space so there are a few things you should keep in mind when prepping for the big day.

Here’s some wedding etiquette for the connected bride:

DO share a photo of your ring - but just don’t go overboard. ONE quick Instagram or Facebook photo is a great way to show off your new bling, but only after certain people have been informed first. Which leads us to…

DONT announce your engagement on your social channels without telling your nearest and dearest first - Not sure mom would like to discover a Facebook photo announcing your engagement before receiving a phone call. Contact the important people in your life prior to sending the announcement out to cyberspace.

DO let your guests know your thoughts on social media and the big day - Whether you want to incorporate a special wedding hashtag or make it an unplugged event, let your guests know! Whatever fits your style and wedding best should be communicated - this includes rules of posting photos of you in your wedding gown prior to the big reveal.

DONT share links to registry - Your registry should be found in two places, your wedding website (should you choose to make one) and your invitations. While you may think tweeting links to your registry is a good idea, you don’t want to seem like you are demanding people to buy you presents.

DO use social media to scout vendors - Looking up florists, photographers, venues, and limo companies (*cough*Dynasty Limo*cough*) has never been easier. Check to see how many followers each company has, read any reviews, and view their photos for inspiration. Plus, sometimes vendors post discounts or deals specifically for their social media followers!

For more DOs and DONTs for the connected bride - head over to Loverly’s article here.

At Dynasty Limousine, we will help you find the right cars perfect for your wedding AND help keep you within your price range.
