Big Chief Lewis

Hugging the shoulder of Sunrise Highway in Massapequa stands Big Chief Lewis: an unofficial landmark on Long Island. Propped up at approximately twelve feet tall, Big Chief Lewis stands in the middle of a totem pole, buffalo and a wild horse statue. Although these statues are nestled between the Massapequa Post Office and the Big Chief Lewis Building, they make for a great photo opp!

Sand Miners Monument

The monument, which features three sand miners standing above the entrance, is dedicated to those who helped create the famous New York City skyline through local sandbanks. Nestled in the heart of Babylon Village is the home of Nipper the Dog: Plesser’s Appliances, BBQs and TVs. Originally a display statue for RCA Victrola, Nipper stands at approximately 30-inches tall and “greets” guests outside of the famed appliance store. Nipper is still in tip-top shape and proudly displays a Plesser’s name tag, too. It’s a great sight to see, especially while walking the streets in town!
