This past Monday, September 30, Governor Andrew Cuomo gave the Long Island Wine Community a huge boost by ushering new wine trail legislation that by allows farm stands to sell wine. Those who love taking trip out to beautiful Long Island wine country will now have a new item to go home with.

The Governor said, "These new laws will build on our continuing efforts to promote New York's wine industry across the state and beyond, boosting tourism, local economies and job growth. We are increasing market opportunities for local producers and farmers and expanding our wine trails to attract tourist to communities across Upstate New York and Long Island."

This new legislature is aimed to deter on-site wine taster from drinking and then driving home after the day. A safety measure that will still allow the farm stands to benefits from the sale of locally-produced wines, but reduce the risk of drunk drivers hitting the road.
