You’ve done it! Day 13 and you are committed to your new and improved fitness routine. But wait, what’s that? You have a business trip at the end of the month? Know majority of your free time will be spent on your commute? So now what?

Whether you are heading out for business or for leisure, traveling can easily wreak havoc on your workout routine. But not to worry, these smart, simple exercises below can easily be done on the plane, train, or in your Dynasty Limo airport car.

While Seated - make use of your ride to and from the airport with these seated moves:

  • Seated Crunch Twists: Gently pull your abdominal muscles in towards your spine and place your hands behind your head. As you exhale, bring the opposite elbow to knee and come up to a tall seated position between sides. Complete 10 crunch twists on each side.
  • Marching: Begin by crossing your arms across your chest. Bend one knee and bring it up higher than 90 degrees while your other foot remains on the floor. Alternate your legs as if you are marching and trying to maintain a quick pace. For a great challenge, attempt three sets of 30-50 reps.
  • Seated Knee Lifts: Sit towards the front of your seat with your knees pressed together and back straight, grabbing the front of your seat. With your core engaged and knees locked in at a 90 degree angle, life your legs towards your chest (no slouching!). Lower your legs but don’t touch the floor until you’ve finished a set. Do three sets of 15 - 20 reps for a real burn.

While Standing - waiting in line for the bathroom? Looking to utilize the aisle space? Try some of these moves:

  • Lunges: Stretch your hip flexors and lower back with some forward lunges. Add some resistance by holding your laptop bag or briefcase as a weight.
  • Single Leg Stand: Keep one foot firmly rooted to the floor, and lift the other a few inches into the air. Hold for 20 seconds and repeat on the opposite side, do three repetitions on each side.
  • Wall Sit: Best done during a pit stop or in the airport/train station. Keep your knees shoulder width apart and bent at a 90 degree angle, pressing your back and head firmly against a wall. Hold it for a minute, or as long as you can. Try three reps.
If you don’t have the time or energy to hit your hotel’s gym after a long day of traveling, the above moves can also be done in the privacy of your room. Now there's no excuse not to try to keep up with your New Year's resolutions while traveling!
