Almost everyone has made a New Year’s resolution but left if fail after the first month. Most have made the resolution to lose weight. CNN Health reports losing weight is not the ideal resolution to make. Instead make healthy lifestyle alternatives and losing weight will become a benefit to your New Year’s resolutions.

Go outside and get some fresh air. Admiring nature or being active outdoors can help clear your mind and relieve any stress you might have. Even parking your car farther away from the door can help you get that extra couple minutes of peace.

Spend some time away from technology. Instead of checking social media or surfing the web, go outside and you will find little time to distract yourself from the screen. CNN Health says children who spend too much time in front of screens have a greater chance of obesity. Don’t let the screen affect your child or even you.

Getting more sleep will dramatically change your life. It relieves you of stress, burns fat and boosts your immune system, mood and peace of mind. Slowly add more and more time to your sleep schedule and soon enough you’ll wake up rested and ready for the day.

Don’t eliminate all unhealthy foods. Instead promise yourself to add more healthy foods to your diet. Remember to eat more vegetables or protein filled snacks and soon enough you’ll forget all about the unhealthy snacks.

Stop multitasking. Whether it be with work tasks or at home, multitasking can confuse you and you could lose your peace of mind you are working hard for. Instead of eating and watching TV, eat at the table without distractions.

Take the time to breathe deeply. Shallow breaths can lead to anxiety. Whenever you feel a stress coming on count your breaths for a couple minutes to correct your breathing and clear any stress.

Try something new and healthy whether it is an exercise class or a healthy cooking class. Reinvent yourself with your new activities and interests.

Make small steps to bettering yourself. Substitute unhealthy snacks for healthy ones. Instead of watching TV, read a book or do yoga for 15 minutes. These little changes can help your lifestyle.
