In-flight social networks - Have you flown Virgin America recently? Their in-flight social network lets you use your iPhones to connect with other passengers at the gate or in the air! What’s the reason for this? This system was designed with the business traveler in mind, hoping they could take advantage of some downtime in flight and make some new professional connections.
Unlocking a room - Who needs to worry about room keys anymore? Starting this week, guests at ten Starwood Hotels around the world will be able to use their smartphones as room keys. Guests can check in using the Starwood app, get their room number, hold their phones up to the door, and the device’s Bluetooth connection will activate the lockpad. The technology will be available in all 150 Aloft, Element, and W Hotels by early next year.
